Today, Winnipeg-based musician Alexa Dirks, better known as Begonia, unveiled her latest single “Deep Red Cherry Night.”
The track marks the third preview from her upcoming album Fantasy Life, set for release on October 24, 2025, via Birthday Cake Records.
Unlike some of her bigger, soaring pop anthems, “Deep Red Cherry Night” takes a more intimate, ballad-like approach, showcasing Dirks’ powerful yet vulnerable vocals against a tender arrangement.
The song leans into her gift for marrying emotional honesty with lush pop sensibilities, hinting that Fantasy Life will balance both bold and delicate moments.

“Deep Red Cherry Night”, is a song “about simple love,” says Dirks.
“It’s about all the beautiful mundane and magical moments that I started to notice when I finally found someone I could rest my trust in.
I’ve spent a lot of my life writing songs about heartbreak, longing and striving to get to the other side of that.
This song is a snapshot of what that other side looks like to me now.
That doesn’t mean that some of my past heartbreaks don’t still exist within me but the pain I feel is now muted by something stronger, deeper and more hopeful.
