De Montigny Contemporary’s Winter Opening 2026

Another opening I attended was the Winter 2026 exhibition at De Montigny Contemporary, featuring two shows: Barbara Brown’s Of Time and the group exhibition 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳.

𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 brings together works by Alaska B, Pascale Arpin, Sierra Barber, Joni Cheung, Brandon A. Dalmer, Jennifer Lefort, Micah Lexier, Christos Pantieras, Michael Schreier, Ryan Statz, Guillermo Trejo, Nico Williams, and others.
The exhibition highlights Canadian artists who use language, symbols, and text as material.
Whether direct or metaphorical, the works treat language as a system that shapes meaning and power, revealing the underlying rules that govern social life. 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 asks how meaning is produced, who controls it, and how these forces influence our daily lives.

𝘖𝘧 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 is Barbara Brown’s latest photographic series, using plant material captured at different points throughout the growing season. By merging multiple phases of growth into a single image, Brown moves beyond the binary narrative of decline or renewal, offering instead a more expansive meditation on time, duration, and transformation.

Both exhibitions run until February 14, 2026.
