I was listening to a streaming of Honeyblood‘s debut self-titled album.
The album won’t drop until July 14, 2014.
Honeyblood are duo from Glasgow, who are guitarist/vocals Stina Tweeddale and drummer Shona McVicar.
They are getting some buzz from BBC 6 Music and NPR.
Here is a blurb about them:
Despite their minimal setup, Honeyblood’s songs are fully formed and perfectly assured.
With nothing extraneous, their music is driven through tightly-bound instrumentals and laced with the sheer strength and beauty of Stina’s voice.
The songs resonate with deep melodic hooks and the kind of uncomplicated charm that’ve drawn contemporary comparisons to the likes of the Dum Dum Girls, as well as the strident delivery of Jenny Lewis. The band also tellingly cite the darker currents of The Breeders, PJ Harvey and Throwing Muses as lifelong influences.
Not going to review the album (Which I think is amazing) but for now you should listen to their leading single Killer Bangs.
It has that hazy indie guitar driven alterna-pop summer beach sound.
Just makes you want to go down to the beach and rock out!!
Have a listen to the song.
Here is the music video.
With an American sound, who knew they are from Scotland!
Look out for them!!
