Jasper Sloan Yip – Strange Calm / Silver Lining [Music Video]

Today Vancouver musician Jasper Sloan Yip dropped the music video for Strange Calm and Silver Lining.
Both singles are taken from the upcoming double EP called Strange Calm / Blushing Autumn which comes out on October 26, 2021 via Tiny Kingdom Records.
Both songs have this dreamy indie pop vibe to it.

About Strange Calm:
The title track to the first EP reflects on the feeling that “it’s an overwhelming time to be alive,” says Jasper.
“There’s too much information right now and I often don’t know what to do with what I know.
It can be paralyzing, and I think ‘Strange Calm’ inhabits this feeling.

It’s a song about those moments that exist outside of time, when you detach yourself from the world around you to retreat inward.
I think a lot of us are doing that right now, it’s part of what it means to be alive and awake in 2021.

About Silver Lining:
It’s a song about the human soul.
In 2017 my mom told me about the ghost that haunted her pottery studio and my bandmate Devon told me a story about an exorcism that happened over the phone.

They were just casual anecdotes, but they had a profound effect on me. For reasons I don’t understand, these stories opened my mind to the possibility that some part of us goes, as the song puts it, ‘on forever’.
I think about it all the time, and now, whenever I feel myself start to detach and float away, it helps me find the ground again.”
