About the album by Laurie:
To me, the title Après coup represents that moment in which one is allowed to stop, take stock and truly feel what resides in them (for better or for worse!).
I tried to let that speak through my improvisations: through playing freely, I gave myself the opportunity to dig into my deepest emotions, and to revisit traces of memory or affective sensory experiences.
During that time in the studio, I could feel the tiredness and the weight that we all feel at times, but also the beauty of everything I’ve experienced, taken in, seen, felt. This process was very peaceful, and I hope listening to the album takes you to a gentle place. <3
