I’m reviewing Matthew Barber‘s album Ghost Notes.
The album came out in spring of 2008.
Wasn’t until I saw him live at Westfest in Ottawa, that I decided to buy the album.
Being a newbie fan of his music, I haven’t heard any of his older stuff.
While listening to this album, its more mature and serious.
Alot of people saying its his best album to date.
The songs are easy to listen and great to sing along to.
Alot of acoustic arrangement making it more soft and initimate.
There are some tracks that have alot of emotions like:
-
- Easily Bruised
- You and Me
- Where The River Bends
- Our Voices
While there are upbeat tracks like I’m Gonna Settle My Accounts With You.
My favorite track is You and Me besides hearing his sister Jill Barber doing backup vocals.
One of the very best emotionally haunting albums of 2008.
