Moon King – Obsession II [EP Review]

Since the disbandment of Spiral Beach.
Things have definitely changed, Dorian Wolf is in Austra.
Airick who has been living in Montreal, is busy with Doldrums. (Need to review “Lesser Evil”)
Toronto’s Daniel and Maddy have been focusing on Moon King.
Which is why I am going to focus on their new EP “Obsession II” which drops on April 20th (Oh you know what day is that!? :P) on One Big Silence.

Obsession II is the follow up to Obsession I.
Gone are the indie pop-rock sounds and more of the experimental electro-dance pop sounds.
They are experimenting by weaving dreamlike harmonies over buzz-saw guitars and electronic percussion.
The EP has that 1980s New Wave with Fuzz Rock Guitar.
While I feel like it sounds like Doldrums (I know Daniel and Airick are brothers and runs in the family :P), it didn’t make any difference.
Just was a fun, dancey and enjoyable EP to listen.

Best tracks:

RIYL: Doldrums, Grimes, Jesus & Mary Chain and
I’d give Obsession II a 9/10.
