Today the Toronto trio Sauna which comprises of Michael le Riche (Fake Palms), Zach Bines (Weaves) and Braeden Craig (Greys) dropped another trippy music video for Float.
The third single is taken from their long awaited debut album Dose Yourself which comes out on May 27, 2022.
A trippy pop rock new wave vibe tune.
About the track:
“Float” is a narcotic, maximalist trip with climbing synths and percussive quirks, all relayed over a slinking, two-chord progression. Le Riche wrote it after listening to Elton John records and honing in on Elton’s habit of playing both on and off the beat.
Speaking on the video director Justis Krar of IMMV Productions says “The goal was to get out of the way and let the words and groove take the video to where it needed to be. Like finding a VHS at a thrift store with the words FLOAT UP written on the side. What kind of disco space odyssey will you go on?”
Le Riche met Zach and Braeden when they were each playing with their respective bands at the same shows and bonded over their deep love of disco and electro. When le Riche started writing songs for Sauna he knew these were the guys he wanted to collaborate with as they were, says le Riche, “one of the best rhythm sections I’ve ever had the privilege of playing alongside”.
