Sea Oleena – Shallow [Review]

Shallow, the first full-length album by Sea Oleena. Album was released on September 30, 2014 on Lefse Records.

I feel like this album deserves alot of attention. (Minus the Pitchfork review, so what do I know about getting the word out? 😛 )
I’ve been a big fan and gushing about Charlotte Loseth who goes by Sea Oleena, ever since I first heard the song Southbound from the EP Sleeplessness.
Shallow is the first debut full length album on Lefse Records.
Seven tracks and clocking in at 43 minutes.
Much like her two EPs (self-title & Sleeplessness) which had that DIY bedroom lo-fi sound and vibe.
Shallow this time has more of a polished studio feel but maintaining that dreamy luscious pop sound.
Overall the album is beautiful, haunting and drifts you into a world where everything is in pastel colors.
One of my favorite albums of 2014!
Best tracks:

  • If I’m
  • Shallow
  • Everyone In Closed Eyes
  • Paths

RIYL: Beach House, Braids, Sigur Ros and Julianna Barwick.
I’d give Shallow 10/10.
While Shallow isn’t available on iTunes Canada, you can get the album at Lefse Records and on Bandcamp.
