Last night I attended Club SAW for the album release show of Inuit throat-singing duo Silla, celebrating their long-awaited record Sila Is Boss.
Also on the bill were Iqaluit’s own Lambo and Greenlandic superproducer Andachan, making for a lineup that felt both powerful and deeply rooted in the North.
The night began with a ceremonial opening led by Aursaarsuq Siksik Sammurtok-Lavallee, Donovan Gordon-Tootoo, Laakkuluk Williamson, Gingger Shankar, and Kevin Qamaniq-Mason, setting an emotional and spiritual tone that carried through the rest of the evening.
Overall, it was a brilliant and moving show, and huge thanks to Debaser for presenting such an important night.
