Saw Gallery held their solo exhibition of Tarralik Duffy‘s Pop Chip Kukuk.
About the exhibition:
Pop, chip, kukuk is the triad of Nunavut junk food.
As commodities with a long shelf life, soda pop, potato chips and chocolate bars are available everywhere in Inuit Nunangat, and consuming them together is an unmistakable part of Inuit pop culture.
In a new series of graphic drawings, prints and soft sculptures, Tarralik Duffy brings a reverence for Inuit icons and offers a tongue-in-cheek ode to familiar objects that have been adopted into contemporary Inuit culture.
Her exhibition Pop Chip Kukuk transforms SAW into a pop-up shop featuring limited-edition art T-shirts, bags and prints produced in SAW Nordic Lab’s screenprinting workshop and made available for purchase throughout the exhibition run.
The exhibition runs until October 15, 2022.
