Saturday night at Minotaure was a packed, high-energy affair, headlined by Montreal’s TEKE::TEKE, who delivered a dynamic set blending Japanese surf-psych, Eleki, and art-rock.
Drawing from their albums Hagata and Shirushi, the band’s performance was a whirlwind of swirling guitar riffs, brass flourishes, and hypnotic rhythms that had the crowd entranced from start to finish.
Their unique fusion of traditional Japanese sounds with modern psych-rock sensibilities created an atmosphere that was both nostalgic and refreshingly innovative.
Opening the night was Fredericton’s Motherhood, whose loud, art-rocking alternative sound set the tone perfectly.
Performing tracks from their recent album Thunder Perfect Mind alongside fan favorites from Winded, the trio delivered a raw, energetic set filled with unpredictable rhythms and experimental flourishes.
Their ability to seamlessly shift between chaotic noise and melodic hooks kept the audience on their toes, solidifying their reputation as one of Canada’s most exciting live acts.
The combination of TEKE::TEKE’s vibrant, genre-bending performance and Motherhood’s intense, boundary-pushing set made for an unforgettable night at Minotaure. This was one of those shows that reminded everyone in the room just how thrilling live music can be.
