The Luxurious and Abundant Lives of Others is the new body of work by Tavi Weisz.
Being shown at Galerie St-Laurent + Hill which is on 293 Dalhousie St.
He approaches a wide scale of subjects in a multitude of ways that aim to involve the viewer in a physical manner. He believes in fully emersing his viewer into the spaces he creates.
Weisz’s paintings directly respond to his surrounding environment as he uses his everyday experiences as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. By experimenting with aleatoric processes, he focuses on the idea of ‘public space’ and more specifically on spaces where anyone can do anything at any given moment: the non-private space, the non-privately owned space, space that is economically uninteresting. The work incorporates time as well as space – a fictional and experiential universe that only emerges bit by bit.
The exhibition runs until August 31, 2019.
