I recently attended the Switched-On Synths night at House of Targ, eager to catch the album release performance by Ottawa’s supergroup, The Retrospects.
The band comprises members from an impressive array of local acts, including New Calling, The White Wires, Bonnie Doon, Sleep Late, Warp Lines, Million Dollar Marxists, and The Giorgioz, to name just a few.
Their set was a delightful journey through indie nostalgic 80s synth-pop and new wave music, perfectly encapsulated in their self-titled album.
The infectious energy and nostalgic beats had the crowd dancing and reminiscing.
Opening the night was Montreal’s Groupe B, who set the tone with their blend of electro-punk and synth-rock.
Their high-energy performance was the perfect prelude to The Retrospects, getting everyone pumped and ready for a night of fantastic music.
