It was a beautiful and contemplative Thursday evening at the National Arts Centre’s Babs Asper Theatre, where The Weather Station and Joan Shelley delivered a night of emotionally rich, soul-stirring music.
The Weather Station—aka Toronto’s Tamara Lindeman—brought her Humanhood tour to Ottawa, the second-last stop before wrapping it up.
Touring in support of her latest album Humanhood, released earlier this year, Lindeman led the audience through a deeply affecting set that explored themes of connection, climate anxiety, and introspection.
The setlist leaned heavily on Humanhood and 2021’s acclaimed Ignorance, weaving together lush arrangements and poetic lyricism with grace and urgency.
Opening the night was Kentucky singer-songwriter Joan Shelley, whose solo acoustic performance cast a warm, intimate spell.
Her folk-pop songwriting felt timeless and tender, setting the perfect tone for what was to come.
A wonderful evening of thoughtful music and powerful performances—one that lingered long after the final note.
