Attended this vernissage at the Art House Cafe on January 12, 2023.
It was Intimate portraits of men as they present themselves privately (Euphemish) by Shawn Philip Hunsdale.
About the exhibition:
The artist presents the erect penis, drawn from life, as a form of portraiture. Many men connect how their penis is, or might be, seen with their own sense of self. On matching applications, men interested in other men often include dick pics within the first few minutes of correspondence. The artist has invited these men over to have their erection drawn, with the foreknowledge that it would form part of an exhibition.
In recent decades, there has been a proliferation of works by women artists reclaiming the vulva as a subject. Boners connote rather a different meaning and remain a source of social discomfort for many. This series is created not with masculine liberation in mind, but as an attempt to document an explicitly bisexual creative research process touching on desire and isolation, started immediately prior to, and continued during, the ongoing pandemi
WARNING: Explicit images of the male anatomy
