Westfest 2019 kicked off at Tom Brown Areana on June 7, 2019.
Hadn’t been attending the festival in recent years.
I was more excited for the first night’s line-up which had Yamantaka//Sonic Titan, Bonnie Doon, Novusolis, Salmon Ella and Tina Sol.
A7G Youth Drummers and Amanda Fox kicked off the festival with a Indigenous ceremony.
The first band to perform was Salmon Ella.
Great set that was a mix of pop, punk, rock, empowerment and social awareness.
Loved their cover of The Carpenters’ Superstar. 8/10.
Novusolis was second and performed a wonderful dreamy and ethereal set of music. 8/10.
Bonnie Doon was third to perform and they burned up the stage with their surf punk rock music. 8/10
Tina So who I didn’t know about. The violinist performed and insane set of classical hip-hop music. 8/10
Ending Friday night was Yamantaka//Sonic Titan. I never get sick and tired seeing their performance of loud experimental rock and noh-wave music.
Mix of tracks from their albums and great rocking out to them! 9/10.
