Winter Gloves, Ennuie & Street Meat @ Mavericks

It was a indie pop night at Mavericks on September 23, 2010.
Playing at the show were:

Street Meat @ Mavericks

It also happened to be a album release show for Winter Gloves which they dropped their second album All Red (Review, click here).

I’ve seen Winter Gloves so many times that I have lost track.
But they always put on a great lively show with their blend of indie new wave synth pop music.

The show started off with Ottawa’s Street Meat.
That was some set they put on.
They are a trio, two female singers and a male drummer.
The set was very electronica-dance pop.
Very catchy with their tunes and had that electronic-boom feel.

After them it was Ennuie.
Last time I saw Ennuie was at a house show.
It was a fun creative set.
Surprised she got Milo to go up and do a cover of “White Lines”.
Then did the cover of Telephone.

Finally it was Winter Glove’s turn.
I did get to interview Charles and Nico (first time meeting the new member after Jean-Michel left) before the show.
Ya it was crazy because their guitar amp exploded and luckily someone in Ottawa quickly helped out and lent them a guitar amp.
I haven’t seen them awhile mostly due to them making the new album All Red.
Last time seeing them was on February 7, 2009.
It was an amazing fun set.
They played tracks from the new album “All Red” and some from “About A Girl”.
There was a new song which is from the iTunes Sessions.
The songs that wasn’t played were I Can’t Tell You and Piano 4 Hands.
Like traditional Winter Gloves show, they gave away CDs to the audience.
This time it was the “A Way To Celebrate” remix album. I was glad to get the CD since I didn’t get it when dropped.
At least no one got hit in the face with the CD.
The set was so crazy some random girl (probably drunk) just came on stage and danced on stage.
I have to say with the new member Nico, he seemed more outgoing and did some of the talking during the sets.
Overall it was one of their set they have done in Ottawa.
Here are the rest of the photos.
