Recently the Toronto musician Alex Southey dropped the trippy collage music video for God’s Green Earth.
Don’t be confused with the title of the song which isn’t a religious bible thumping song but more of a moody intimate indie folk rock tune.
About the track by Alex:
“”God’s Green Earth” or as it could’ve been called, “Demo-itis: The Song”.
The vast majority of this song’s life has been as a poorly recorded, poorly overdubbed, stitched-together voice note.
I then played that basic recording on my laptop, and recorded more harmonies into my phone.
It was like working with digital scotch tape.
When I brought it to producer Alex Gamble, we kept multiple portions of the original demo in order to keep its frayed, worn-in qualities.
It’s my favourite of this batch.
I hope it’s yours.”
