Wow I totally had a great time at Raw Sugar Cafe on March 21, 2012.
A really intimate sit down on the floor show by these two musicians.
One from England and one from Ottawa.
Playing at the show were:
• Benjamin Francis Leftwich

• André M. Bluteau

Ottawa’s André M. Bluteau started off the set.
Hadn’t seen him play for awhile.
He put on a great set and had some funny stage banter and interacting with the audience.
Played tracks from his album “Crooked Smiles” and some new tracks on a upcoming album.
Still had that scruffy voice and the lyrics being very ture, raw and emotional.

Next was Benjamin Francis Leftwich.
I was very excited because I heard his stuff being played on BBC Radio 1 and one of his songs was on Grey’s Anatomy.
His solo set was just amazing.
Just him and a guitar.

There were a few songs he didn’t need the mic to sing and just did it acoustically.
When he sang “Pictures“, I was like wow!
That song gave me chills down my spine.
During the encore he sat down and almost close to the audience to sing some songs.
Loved the intimate setting, felt like being in a campfire.

Before the show, I got to do a short interview with him.
One of his musical influences is Bruce Springsteen.
It was his first time playing Ottawa and really loved Raw Sugar Cafe.
Have a listen to the interview.
Here are the rest of the photos.
