You shouldn’t judge a band by its name.
Which why I thought the Montreal band Domestic Crisis Group was.
With a name like that I thought it was a some punk rock band.
This band released an EP called “Two Tired Hearts”.
I found out that their music was played on CBC Radio Montreal’s show Cinq à six.
But it happens to be a guy-girl duo from Montreal.
Similar to acts like Snowblink and Handsome Furs (more in a folk-pop style).
Here is a blurb from their Myspace page.
The bittersweet music of Montreal’s Domestic Crisis Group touches on the troubles of everyday life, from the holes in the fabric of the American dream to the dregs of love and the mending of broken hearts.
Hailing from two of North America’s music capitals, Montreal, Quebec, and Fort Worth, Texas, musicians and songwriters Genevieve Blouin and Dane Ratliff met under a pair of Elk antlers at an Old Montreal watering hole in late 2008.
When I popped in “Two Tired Hearts”.
I was very impressed with the five tracks.
How musically and lyrically Domestic Crisis Group are in this EP.
Very indie folk pop and has that melancholy feel on love and life.
When listened to all five track, it reminds me of a Sheryl Crow track.
Check out this band if you can.
Best tracks:
- The Breaks
- Acid Wash
- The Distance
- Put All Your Troubles Away
- Eyes Of Orion
I’d give this EP 9/10.
Hopefully they make a stop in Ottawa.
