Faiyaz & the Wasted Chances – Glow [Listen]

2021 has been a unique year with POC bands coming out on the indie music scene.
Check out this punk band from Toronto called Faiyaz and the Wasted Chances.
Glow is the second single of 2021.
A loud brash punk psych-garage banging tune.

About the band and tune:
The band is described as: “A raw garage pop band with virtuosic protopunk influences, cheekily modded for today’s listeners”.
Their sound Falls somewhere between warhol prepunk and the Toronto DIY indie, that they were flowered in.
The band’s raucous, rough around the edges appeal is concisely painted.

Faiyaz wrote “Glow” at a time when he was working a full time job while touring in multiple bands and sleeping on the floor.
It’s the song you hear at 5:30am, half dead waiting alone for a street car.
“Glow” captures the hustle and bustle of Toronto, with that one guitar riff mimicking the TTC Subway doors opening. People will lose their luster, or glow, unable to enjoy the everyday anymore because it seems mundane.
Without joy in our lives, it’s easy to be misguided.

“Glow” is the song you hear on your 8 hour shift break to remind you that there’s worth in all of this. There are still moments worth experiencing and taking in, as small as taking a bath or as beautiful as the night sky.

Glow gets:
/10.
