Last night marked the much-anticipated return of the Figureworks Prize 2025, held at the newly reopened Wallack’s Gallery on 305 Bank Street.
This prestigious biennial juried art prize continues its legacy of celebrating the beauty, complexity, and diversity of the human form in art.
The atmosphere buzzed with creativity as artists, art enthusiasts, and community members gathered to honor this year’s exceptional talent.
Taking the top prize was Ruth Less’s “Portals, Contact”, a captivating piece that skillfully explored themes of connection and transformation.
Meanwhile, the People’s Choice Award went to Elsa Frances Wiebe for “it’s going to apply”, a work that resonated deeply with attendees for its intimate storytelling and technical brilliance.
Kaya Comeau‘s 4 out of 5 stars – Emilie was one of the 3 runner up prizes.
