    •  JFM
    • http://youtu.be/PZukEOLQGJw

    •  H de Heutz
    • Mas Aya

The show also bids farewell to Debaser host and Fryquency co-organizer Rocky LaLune!

Rocky is moving to Montreal to continue her studies at McGill university. Sadly, this means that Debaser will no longer be broadcasted live on CKCU’s airwaves, following our final show on Tuesday, August 26. However, we are really excited to announce that the Fryquency event series will be continuing at Mugshots thanks to the unstoppable Emily McQuarrie! Stay tuned for more Fryquency events in months to come!

A little about the performers:

Lido Pimienta is a Colombian-born, Toronto resident who has made an impact on her nationally and internationally as a powerful force in experimental pop music, visual art, and social justice. She has toured extensively in Latin America, supported a Tribe Called Red on tour, and performed with Tanya Tagak.
“The righteous Lido Pimienta leads the charge with martial snares and multi-tracked vocals that could summon the revolution” –Weird Canada

JFM‘s cut and paste compositions are like deep-sleep association sounds collaged with a chilled out groove cuts. He has released music on cherished Canadian labels Divorce Records and Pleasence, and has contributed to the Long Winter split 7″ series. A Fryquency alumni, Jesse Frank Matthews returns to Ottawa after his legendary performance back in March.
“Jesse Frank Matthews is a radio anthropologist as collage artist, collecting critical bits to make a mosaic in your mind that feels at once nostalgic and immediate, metropolitan and organic.” -Weird Canada

When he is not performing as his solo project Mas Aya, Brandon Valdivia also plays with Not the Wind Not the Flag, Picastro and Pachamama. The Toronto multi-instrumentalist plays traditional Latin melodies with electronic beats. We are especially excited to be welcoming Mas Aya after he played the very first Debaser event at Mugshots back in May of 2013!
“It seems like Brandon Valdivia has already spent several lifetimes playing, traveling and soaking up a polymeter of vocabularies from this musically dense planet. This is written in the fabric of his work with Picastro, Not The Wind, Not The Flag and especially in his solo work under his nom-de-drum, Mas Aya.” -Weird Canada

H de Heutz is a duo of experimentalists. Olivier (Fet.Nat, Timber Timbre, E-Tron Record) is from Hull, Nathan is from Ottawa. They attempt to mediate space and noise as fits of existential rage are thrown.

“It is a thing of beauty where the content has necessitated the form.” -Black Bough
Through an economy of means they attempt to create a stark, urgent music borne of the political reality of their place, perspective, and time.” -The Artel
