Joseph Shabason – The Fellowship [Music Video]

Today, Toronto musician Joseph Shabason dropped the single and music video for The Fellowship.
The track is taken from the upcoming album of the same name which comes out on April 30, 2021 via Western Vinyl (USA + ROW) and Telephone Explosion (Canada).
No! The track is not a homage to Lord of The Rings.
Beautiful new age ambient jazz-experimental tune which is definitely be played on my favourite radio show which is KEXP’s Pacific Notions.
The music video has that 1980s Koyaanisqatsi style or visualizing what is like driving while listening to the song.

About the track:
The title track of The Fellowship swings toward relief and reflection, and buoys the mood up to something childlike. It is suffused with saxophone, upright bass, chorus-drenched guitar, and digitized pan flute; the kinds of 90’s jazz timbres that mark a time in Shabason’s adolescence when the dilemmas of his family’s faith were still obscured by comfort, community, and a dash of the forgivable naivete of early youth.

At the same time, the piece shows Shabason at his most melodically athletic, darting around chord changes with fervor for the subject at hand.

The Fellowship gets:
/10.
