Last night I attended the opening reception for Lumenos at Wallack Galleries.
About Lumenos:
Lumenos, the artistic collaboration between Teresa Cullen and Rob Marchessault, explores the expressive potential of lumen prints—a unique, camera-less photographic technique. Using sunlight, photo-sensitive paper, and carefully arranged flowers and plant matter from their own gardens, the artists create breathtaking images that blur the lines between abstraction and botanical beauty.
Each artwork is a result of a delicate and fleeting process: once the plant matter is removed, the image must be digitally captured within seconds before the entire paper darkens. The final compositions, printed on fine art and Japanese Washi papers, capture fleeting moments of light and form.
This exhibition features 20 striking digital lumen prints, blending light, nature, and artistic precision. Each piece showcases the artists’ mastery of this rare photographic technique.
The exhibition runs until April 20, 2025.
