Lykke Li – Wounded Rhymes [Streaming]

In under just three years, Sweden’s Lykke Li has been making a big splash in the indie music scene since her first album “Youth Novels”.
The only song I like from that album is the piano ballad “Tonight“.
Now there is high expectations come February 28th when she drops her sophomore release with “Wounded Rhymes”.

Mostly gone are the electro/dream pop sound from the first album.
More of a raw intense, sexually and emotional rock sound in Wounded Rhymes.
There is alot of tribal drums in tracks like “I Follow Rivers” and “Get Some”.
The whole album has that retro rock sound from the 1960s in Youth Knows No Pain, I Follow Rivers, Sadness Is A Blessing
There is a softer side in ballad like tracks in Unrequited Love, I Know Places and Silent My Song.

Overall it is a great album with some great catchy tracks and who couldn’t resist Lykke’s vocals.
She is taking chances and make the music she wants to make.
