M for Montreal @ Le Petit Chicago – April 23, 2011

Parlovr @ Le Petit Chicago
This is a surprise, I finally went to my first show at Le Petit Chicago in Gatineau (I still call it Hull) on April 23, 2011.
I was there to see my favorite Montreal band Parlovr and Final Flash.
Sadly I didn’t get to see Final Flash due to be a late show.
At first I thought it would be just those two.
But it happened to be a “M for/pour Montreal” showcase so they needed to add like two local acts (mostly from Gatineau) for it.
It was cool that “M for Montreal” was there since I saw them around Pop Montreal.
For those that don’t know they are a group of organizers that features acts big or small from Montreal and play at various festivals and cities.
I got at the venue somewhat early and hung with the guys of Parlovr and watched the hockey games (Habs vs Bruins).

Les Moindres @ Le Petit Chicago
The first act that played was Les Moindres.
They are a band from Gatineau.
Music was indie French country rock folky blues.
They were great live despite not understanding what they said in French after they ended a song.
Wasn’t until the last song that the female singer bought out the cowbell. Who doesn’t love a cowbell?

Second was Parlovr.

I was so excited to see them.
As I noticed this is the first time I have seen them live this year.
Glad to see the traffic lights were there.
They never disappoint live with their indie crazy alterna-rock music.
Played some new tracks and favorites like Hell, Heaven.
With typical Parlovr’s set they get someone to be a human mic stand.

Ended off with Pen To The Paper (sorry the link is the Gobble Gobble remix. via) and I totally rocked out!
Glad they got a great draw!

Saw abit of Tracteur Jack.
They are a band from Gatineau and their music was French pop country rock.
They had that Western look to them.

Sadly I didn’t get to see Final Flash.
But you can read my review I did of their album or various photos from live shows.

It was a nice showcase featuring Montreal and Gatineau.
Only problem for myself was not understanding any of the French spoken.
If only they had the MC speak English and French.
But overall great talented acts to check out.
Le Petit Chicago is actually a nice venue and glad that the venue is close to the bus stop.
