I was very fortunate to catch this hot, sold-out show featuring Mac DeMarco at the Black Sheep Inn on April 4, 2014.
Talking about Mac DeMarco this was one seriously crazy show!
The crowd was completely wild, with people moshing near the stage and the energy getting more intense as the night went on. At one point, people were even throwing cigarettes toward Mac. I don’t think the Black Sheep Inn staff were expecting this level of insanity!
Mac played much of the set from his then-new album, Salad Days, bringing his laid-back, slacker-rock style to a crowd that was anything but laid-back. The contrast between Mac’s relaxed persona and the chaotic audience made the whole night even more memorable.
Hands down, this was one of the best shows I saw that year. Mac DeMarco would go on to play much bigger festival stages, including NXNE and Ottawa Bluesfest, but seeing him in such an intimate and completely packed Black Sheep Inn was something special.
This was the kind of small-venue concert experience that sticks with you — loud, unpredictable, chaotic and a whole lot of fun.
