Ottawa Folk Festival 2012 “Freewheelin’ Monday Edition”

It was the last day of the Ottawa Folk Festival.
Despite being a chilly day.
It was the big ticketed show of the night.

Started off the day and got a sneak peek of Bon Iver‘s soundcheck.
This was the only time I got to be somewhat upclose before the big draw of crowds.
Surprised to see Colin Stetson there.

The show started off with Providence, Rhode Island’s The Low Anthem.
They played on the Ravenlaw stage.
This was the first time seeing them and their music was indie folk rock.
Their music made you want to walk slowly around the festival grounds.
I really like their set.

Over at the CUPE Stage was Montpelier, Vermont’s Anaïs Mitchell.
She played mostly a indie folk set.
Music was very slow and mellow.

Things kicked it up a notch at the Ravenlaw stage.
The last band to play at that stage was Hey Rosetta!
They were the last minute band to be booked because The Lumineers cancelled.
All I have to say they totally rocked it off the park.
Amazing and energetic set.
During the second song, the audience lit up sparklers.
Totally amazing to see that!
Something about that band totally draws a big crowd.

Stayed in the crowd area during Bon Iver‘s set.
It was truly a beautiful and amazing set.
Happy that they played Skinny Love.
You can say ended it off this years festival.

Here are the rest of the photos.

I was going to do a final thought on this festival.
But I will save it on a rainy day.
