On Thursday during Pop Montreal.
I started off my day at Parc de la Petite-Italie for this BBQ which was presented by Mailchimp and Pop Montreal.
This showcase had a Hawaiian theme to this.
I was definitely starving and got a hamburger with a pineapple in it.
I arrived at the place and this big Francophone band from Montreal called Canailles.
They had that folky-pop, bluegrass and country sound to them.
A very energetic and upbeat band!
Next band was UBT.
I wasn’t aware that it was actually Uncle Bad Touch who just shorted their name.
They put on a great set of their indie garage stoner rock music.
Around 3pm I had to run a short errand.
Returned back and caught the last song by this Montreal act called Cosmetics.
It was a indie experimental synth-pop music.
After Cosmetics, it was this Toronto band called Yacht Club.
They play a cool set of indie 80s new wave dance pop music.
Fucked Up’s Young Guv is in this band.
Hadn’t had alot of sleep, I wasn’t aware that Robin Hatch (of Sheezer) is in the band.
Definitely a interesting set.
Lastly I wanted to see Mozart’s Sister.
If you don’t know it is the works of Caila Thompson-Hannant’s music.
I will say it again, think of it as a grown up/mature version of Grimes.
This time she wasn’t at it solo, she was accompanied by a guitar player.
She played a fun and poppy-dance set.
I still think she will hit it big very soon! If not it will be a travesty!!
Here are the rest of the photos.
