Pop Montreal 2015 – Day 4 [September 19, 2015]

PopMontreal2015
So here is the fourth of five series of acts that I saw at Pop Montreal.
On Saturday I saw were Lee Ranaldo, Eleni Mandell, Tess Roby, Charlotte Day Wilson, River Tiber, Babes In Toyland, Win Win, Absolutely Free, The Cribs and The Yips.

Tess Roby @ Casa del Popolo
After catching the show at Ubisoft with Lee Ranaldo and Eleni Mandell. Heading up to Casa del Popolo to see Montreal artist Tess Roby. She had this dark electro-pop music very similar to Austra and Florence + the Machine.
Charlotte Day Wilson @ Pop Montreal 2015
Went over to Theatre Fairmount to the Arts & Crafts’ Pop Montreal showcase. Due to some shuffling of the schedule since Farao wasn’t able to make it to Montreal (due to visa issues). I got there and saw Toronto’s Charlotte Day Wilson perform. It was a nice folk pop set.
River Tiber @ Pop Montreal 2015
Afterwards was River Tiber. Heard things about him and finally got to see him perform. Very mellow solo-male artist kind of music. Wasn’t until the second last song that he perform No Talk which Drake sampled. It was nice set.
Win Win @ Pop Montreal 2015
Caught most of Win Win since before that I went over to Rialto Theatre and caught two songs of Babes in Toyland. Win Win performed a great indie rock set. Kind of reminds me of early Broken Social Scene music.
Absolutely Free @ Pop Montreal 2015
Maybe it’s me but I thought Absolutely Free performed an awesome. Probably the sound at the venue make it good. Really enjoyed their set alot but bummed out they didn’t perform Clothed Woman Sitting. Can’t get sick of their music!
The Cribs @ Pop Montreal 2015
Caught most of the Cribs. Pretty high energetic set they performed!

The Yips @ Barfly [Pop Montreal 2015]
Pop Montreal needs to fix up the scheduling for some shows. I wanted to show my Ottawa support for The Yips. Supposedly they were going to perform at 1am. While Bixi biking from Mile End to Barfly was good exercise. I arrived at around 12:55am and I got their for their final song. I was like WTH! At least they had a great draw at the venue! Great for The Yips but didn’t see the rave ghost 😛

Pretty much a busy Saturday night!
