It was a busy Friday night, after catching the live music at Wesfest 2012.
I headed off to Mavericks for a night of indie rock music.
Playing at the show:
• PS I Love You
• Army Girls
• Try Harder
Starting off the show was Kingston’s Try Harder.
The band featured Paul of PS I Love You on bass.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from them.
WOW! They rocked my socks off!
More of indie grungey-garage rock sound them.
Incredible rocking loud set!
After they were done, I had to say how amazing their set was. I was kind of surprised and embarrassed that the lead singer knew who I was.
Thanks to Aaron of Cousins. 😛
Next was Toronto’s Army Girls.
I think it was their first Ottawa show.
I know I will check them out next week at NXNE.
They had that indie garage pop rock sound to them.
A band that reminded me on the top of my head was “Land of Talk”!
But a really great set they put on.
Finally it was PS I Love You’s turn.
Don’t remember how many times I have seen them live.
But it was the first time as a trio since Tim Bruton (ex-Forest City Lovers, ex-Matters and sometimes plays with Evening Hymns) accompanying on stage with them.
They played a mix tunes from the new album “Death Dreams” and critically acclaim debut “Meet Me at the Muster Station”.
It was a fun loud rocking time!
I was surprised to see Colin Medley at the show. He was in town for a wedding.
Despite the turnout, it didn’t really bother me at all.
I like to think of it as a private party and just enjoy the music wholeheartedly.
Here is another take of the show.
Here are the rest of the photos.
