Record Store Day 2012: What I Bought

It was a cold and rainy day but didn’t stop people for Record Store Day 2012.
Surprised by the turnout when I got to Vertigo Records at 8:30am.
There was already people in line, I was around the 20th person.
Last year I was one of five people who got there at around that time.
I guess the buzz and hype surrounding Record Store Day is a good thing for the indie record shops.
I totally zoom by this year’s event.
Here is a list of what I bought.

I thought it was the Soulwax remix but I found out that it was only for the UK edition.
But at least I got a copy of it and it’s still a great remix by Damien Taylor.

Glad I bought this one, Vertigo Records only had about five copies of this.
I took the last one.

Bought the last copy of this one!

  • Various Artists – Empire Records Soundtrack

I definitely had to get this one.
Would you call this the soundtrack of the 1990s?
Considering I haven’t seen this movie yet.
I had the CD before but a friend never gave it back to me.
But having this on vinyl is worth it!
Love that Gin Blossoms and The Cranberries track.

  • Various Artists – Smugglers Way

This one was a surprise and caught my eye.
Also unique because it came in 5 colour flexidisc.
Smugglers Way is Domino’s first ever flexidisc zine.
It features FIVE individual flexidiscs of exclusive, unreleased songs from Dirty Projectors, Real Estate, Cass McCombs, John Maus and Villagers plus 24 pages of art and writing from Domino Records & Ribbon Music artists including Owen Pallett, Jon Hopkins, Orange Juice, James Yorkston, Villagers, Black Dice, Twin Sister, King Creosote and MORE. The whole package is slipped into a 7.5″ x 7.5″ poly bag suitable for travel to a record player of your choosing. Tracklist for individual flexis.

Happy Record Store Day 2012!
