On August 20th, Sarah Neufeld will drop her long awaited debut album called “Hero Brother” out on Constellation Records.
Sarah is known for her violin work as a member in Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre and sometimes with The Luyas.
Hero Brother will totally shows off as her own as a musician.
*Don’t forget she will be playing in Ottawa for Arboretum Festival on August 17th.
Here is a blurb:
Recorded in the dead of winter in Berlin with Nils Frahm, it’s a bold album that will take you on a journey of emotions.
When listening to the whole 11 track album.
It has that Constellation vibe/feel from their roster like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Colin Stetson, Esmerine and many more.
You can say it is the equivalent to Colin Stetson with the bass saxophone, but this is more on the violin.
I was very moved listening to Hero Brother.
I swear something about the violin as a instrument can bring a lot of feelings and emotions when it makes it’s music.
Best tracks:
- Hero Brother
- You Are The Field
- They Live On
- Sprinter Fire
- Forcelessness
- Below
Definitely one of the best records I’ve heard in 2013!
RIYL: Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre, Owen Pallett and Colin Stetson
I’d give Hero Brother 10/10.
