Montreal Japanese psych-rock band TEKE:TEKE dropped the music video for Meikyu (means Maze or Labyrinth).
The leading single is taken from their upcoming and long awaited debut album Shirushi (means “signs of great changes to come”) which comes out on May 7, 2021 via Kill Rock Stars.
Meikyu is a trippy visual soundscape of retro classic garage surf rock music.
It is a mix of modern and classic into one.
About the music video:
’When plans with a hired animator fell through, Maya and I decided to take things into our own hands, hence the DIY aesthetic.’’ guitarist Nakauchi-Pelletier says.
Maya adds ‘’We like working as a team on these visual projects and strive to get better, so we just go for it – I’ll make some drawings or paintings and then use whatever tools we have off hand, learn new softwares on the spot and ways of working as we go’’.
Nakauchi-Pelletier concludes‘
’Also, this is yet another video put together during a pandemic, which explains the footage of all band members taken individually… We gave it our best shot, we humbly hope people can enjoy it and get a good sense of the band and the song’’.
