The Steve Adamyk Band [Review]

Ottawa is thriving in the indie garage rock/punk/power pop scene.
Ottawa’s The Steve Adamyk Band is no exception.
Finally got to listen to their album simple titled “The Steve Adamyk Band”.

Last time I did a review, it was on the Desecrate EP.
The album is the first full-length and it is combined as I like to call it the “3 Colors EP” which are Speed It Up, Better Off and Desecrate.
Now Steve Adamyk who is the leader of the band.
He mostly wrote the songs and made the music (with the band one being Davey from Male Nurse) on full-length album.

Couldn't help but use this photo from Bluesfest 2009

I asked Chris from Sounds of the 613 and this is what he says:
“Each song is short and catchy as hell, keeping true to Adamyk’s punk roots while maintaining a poppy, sing-along touch.
For a guy who plays in so many bands, he still manages to find new hooks and songs that, while not alienating to fans of his other bands, are fresh and original.”
I couldn’t agree more.
The flow of the album is seamless with pure fun energetic power pop punk.
The sound has that cool fuzzy power pop sound which I can’t seem to pinpoint what it reminds me off.
I was surprised listening to the album.
Considering I am still not overly familiar with the Ottawa Garage music scene. (Someone get me the White Wires album and whoever!)
Fearing it would be loud on my ears and be somewhat angst ridden (which is not).
It is one of those albums that you want to take to your bedroom and dance along to it “punk style”.
This coming from Ottawa, who knew!
Best tracks:

I’d give this album 9.2/10.
Thanks to Steve Adamyk for sending me the album.
Anyone reading this outside of Ottawa, you should check out this album.
