Finally attended a show at Raw Sugar Cafe.
I’ve been there before for the Folk Festival Media Launch and Found Magazine but those two were different.
On September 2nd I went to see three acts
They were:
Tissø Lake from the UK
Brooke Manning from Toronto
The Wilderness of Manitoba from Toronto
It was a nice intimate show for all three acts playing.
In cased you missed The Wilderness of Manitoba, they will be back on Sept 6th playing at the Treehouse (Wherever that is in Ottawa?).
Surprised for Brooke Manning’s set because accompanying her was Thom Gill (That should be his name).
He was at the Bruce Peninsula show in July.
The set started off with Tissø Lake.
Just him and a guitar.
Great solo set he put on.
Funny he mention on how his guitar was tied up by a ribbon which had flags of Scotland, England and another country.
It was his first time touring in Canada.
To support him, decided to purchase his album on vinyl.
Check out the Tissø Lake’s interview.
Brooke Manning was next.
She had two band members backing her up.
Her music was great.
She reminded me of Jenn Grant.
Check out Brooke Manning’s interview accompanied by Erin Lang.
A fun and hilarious interview.
Finally it was The Wilderness of Manitoba.
The first time I meant them but didn’t see them play was when I was in Toronto at the Rolly’s Garage show.
I talked to Will and Scott who also happens to be in another band called Provincial Parks.
I find out through them about their other band.
Wow they were amazing, they didn’t need a mic and it wasn’t too loud as what I expected it to be.
Loved Will and Melissa sang from the red sofa.
Missing was Stefan Banjevic who does their banjo and cello.
But he will be with the band on Sunday at the Treehouse show.
Their songs were amazing and I loved hear Bluebirds, Dreamcatchers, Evening and final song Manitoba.
Great acoustic vibe and I love their Tibetan drums/bowls.
