Year of Glad – Old Growth [Review]

Usually I get the frequent bands following me on Twitter.
There was one that caught my attention and was reviewed on Weird Canada.
It is Montreal’s Year of Glad which consist of Nick Laugher and A.P. Bergeron .
While their Twitter account seems to be shrouded with weird word associations.
Listening to Old Growth, I was kind of surprised with their sound.
It is a mix of experimental post punk lo-fi pop music.
Old Growth is very ambient, dreamy, intense and ethereal at times.
While it doesn’t make you feel happy, it is definitely a unique act to listen to.
Old Growth is free to get on Bandcamp.
Best tracks:

  • Deth
  • Old Growth
  • Cañon
  • Swim

RIYL: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Ros and M83.
