For those familiar with Constantines who were sadden by their breakup, check out Bry Webb‘s solo stuff. He recently released an album called “Provider”. So far I’ve only heard this song called “Rivers Of Gold”. It is a slow folky country track; very haunting with just him and the guitar. Have a listen to Rivers of Gold.

It’s been awhile since we last heard from Montreal’s Plants and Animals. They just dropped a new single called “Lightshow” from their upcoming third album, “The End of That”, which drops in 2012 on Secret City Records.
Indie sloppy alterna-pop rockers Parlovr (pronounced Parlour, but lately have been going with its spelled named) is my favorite Montreal band. While we wait breathlessly for their second album to drop, “Kook Soul” on Dine Alone Records, with word this will be sometime in spring 2012, listen to “Holding On To Something”.

There is a trend lately with albums getting the Deluxe Edition treatment, one being Austra‘s “Feel It Break“, which drops today. November 26, 2011 was a busy night in Ottawa. First stop was at Avant-Garde Bar. It was last minute that I found out that Behind Sapphire, from Vancouver, were playing. Also on the bill was Toronto’s The Elwins, who finally played a show in Ottawa.
With various shows happening on November 25, 2011, I decided to go to Babylon Nightclub to support two Ottawa acts. The show was a celebration and a thank you to the fans of Sound of Lions, who recently won Best New Act and Best Album from the Ottawa Xpress Readers Poll 2011.
