Finally here are the photos from Arkell‘s set at the Ballroom.
I was really excited to see this set and surprised to how crazy full it got when they got on stage.
Since I was bowling with Data Romance, Amy and I ran upstairs to catch the set.
I didn’t know the Arkells were mostly singing covers, so no new materials.
But it was sure a fun and wild set.
I noticed Canadian author Margaret Atwood was in attendance. I was like “Wow! She likes the Arkell? That is some cool lady”. It was kind of cute to see her take photos on her small digicam during their set.
Happen to see Shad getting a photo with her.
Got there when they sang Ain’t Too Proud (Forgot who sang the original).
My favorite cover was when they sang “My Girl”.
Then the band bought up special guest “Sweet Thing” up on some songs.
Even Shad came up too.
Covers they did were Motown classic, Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” and even Outkast’s Ms.Jackson which Shad did some rapping!
I can see why people love the Arkells.
During the whole set, I noticed the guys from Hollerado and Tokyo Police Club were in attendance but didn’t come up on stage.
I wonder whoelse was at the MMVA afterparty?
This topped off my Sunday (June 19th) night in Toronto.
