Best Coast – Crazy For You (Review)

Everyone is buzzing about Best Coast.

Who I happen to see the band play at NXNE this year.
Summer is still around and with this full length debut, you need to listen to it before the summer ends.
They finally released Crazy For You (No its not a Madonna cover).
This whole album feels like you are in California with all its sun, beaches, surfing, people and its culture.
There is some angst when you listen to Goodbye, Bratty B and Happy.
Then you have the catchy lovely sounds in Boyfriend, Crazy For You, Summer Mood, Our Deal, Honey and When I’m With You.
Melody Lamb of Singinglamb says:
Nothing encapsulates the surf-rock trend of the summer better than Best Coast’s debut album Crazy For You. Lead singer Bethany Cosentino’s breezy hits bring together the simplistic 50’s and 60’s girl group lyrics of love with waves of messy reverb charm. You may not be near a beach at all but the sounds of this record will immediately transport you to the sandy shores of Cosentino’s vision of a sunny rock haven.

Best tracks:

  • Boyfriend

  • Crazy For You
  • Goodbye
  • Summer Mood

  • Our Deal

  • I Want To
  • Bratty B

  • Happy
  • When I’m With You

All thirteen track are great catchy surfing pop tunes.
The only small criticism is that the album clocks up to 31 minutes and the tracks are around 1-2 minutes.
Hopefully the follow up the band will have longer tracks.
Enjoy this album before summer 2010 ends!
I also like the album cover with the cute kitty!
