I am glad to be out of the house due to the OC Transpo strike. Haven’t gone out since December and here is my first show review for 2009. This is my first of two nights to see Basia Bulat. Photos are up. It was amazing to see her again.
I had a interesting night. I wasn’t expecting to see Martha Wainwright again. Last time I saw her play was at Bluesfest. Thanks to my brother who won the tickets from CBC Radio 3(Who says CBC doesn’t give away good things? Support Radio 3 and good things might come).
Attended to this show and support Ottawa talent. With the bus strike still happening. Still didn’t dampen the holiday spirits. The turn out was good but what can you do with horrible circumstance with public transit. On to the review.
December 12, 2008 was a memorable night at Barrymore’s. Besides the buses being on strike, that couldn’t ruin a great show. It was a home welcoming show for Ottawa’s favorite band The Acorn. Also playing was Sleeping Pilot and Ohbijou.
I was unexpected to attend Jim Bryson‘s show at the Blacksheep Inn. Thanks to a nice person who gave me a ride. It was a sold out show which was packed with alot of excited Jim Bryson fans. What a show it was and probably a tradition for Jim. It is the ninth year that …
Went to see Bad Flirt and Receivers at Zaphods on Dec 3, 2008 Both are from Montreal, what with that city and their music??? Both released their debut full length albums. Turnout was so-so but whatever, I was here to support two bands who happen to have great music at the moment. Bad Flirt are …
Its December already and I have compiled my list of shows of 2008. I know its early to list them Its up on the tab under “Best of 2008“. While I still need to work on albums and singles of 2008. Honourable mention in no particular order: Westfest 2008. Great to see Grand Analog, Land …
I decided on a spur of the moment and watch Stars play the 2nd night show in Ottawa. I didn’t go for the first sold out show because I went to see Two Hours Traffic instead. [flickr-gallery mode=”photoset” photoset=”72157610271542359″]
I finally got to see a band that has been doing really well in 2008. Its Two Hours Traffic and they are from the East Coast. Its been a great year for them. Being shortlisted for the Polaris Prize which is got them alot of attention. On to the show.
Went to see three bands at Cafe Dekcuf on Nov 22nd. It happened to be all ages show. I wasn’t annoyed like any typical AA shows. Somehow this was a laid back AA show. Bands playing were The Sunjet Records Band, The Gales and of course Winter Gloves. [flickr-gallery mode=”photoset” photoset=”72157609733067823″]
