Another art opening on April 26, 2019 was at Studio Sixty Six.
The exhibition was called Collage Works: Thompson, Corre, Taler.
Featuring artists Amy Thompson, Kristina Corre and Laura Taler.
The art of Collage transcends the obvious reading of an image by juxtaposing and or layering a wide array of iconography, often in a range of different mediums to create narratives that are not possible in the physical world.
Collage has been an important part of the evolution of modern and contemporary art throughout the 20th century. The French term collage was coined by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, who both made use of collage techniques in their Cubist paintings; collage was also popular among the artists of the Dada movement in the 1920’s. Once again Collage Art has become increasingly popular and complex.
The exhibition runs until June 2, 2019
