Don’t you wish we can have a day like this, where we can forget about our hectic life and just space out?
So why not check out Ottawa Jazz musician Craig Pedersen and his band.
So far I’ve only heard three tracks on the full-length, Days Like Today.
The band will be playing a show at Club Saw for the release of their album on November 29, 2011.
For those not familiar to Craig Pedersen or the world of jazz music, here is a tidbit about the album:
“Inspired by the music of John Zorn, the AACM, Ornette Coleman, and Duke Ellington, the new album contains ten tracks of original music that walk the distance between approachable and challenging. Freewheeling, energetic, and just-a-little crazy, the music keeps you listening, thinking and on your toes.”
Also, you may have seen him play in a few bands, one being Mike Essoudry’s Mash Potato Mashers.
From the three tracks I have already heard, I like it, even though I’m not familiar with jazz.
There is a smooth and cool jazz sound.
I know it’s not really Colin Stetson, but I need more variety.
Have a listen to these three tracks.
