Don’t forget to check out Black Box Series featuring Daniel Romano (Attack in Black/Daniel, Fred and
Julie) with special guests The Mountains & The Trees which is tonight! (August 5th)
at Wellington West’s Cube Gallery. Doors are at 7:30 pm with the
performance beginning at 8 pm sharp.
From the press release:
After a year that saw his collaboration with Julie Doiron, and Fred Squire
win nearly unanimous acclaim from critics and fans, Daniel Romano is
touring the US (w/Sarah Harmer) and Canada in support of his debut solo
record “Working for the Music Man”. While on a break from the road, Romano
found himself at home writing new songs that he didn’t think could be used
in any of his current projects. The result from this constantly evolving
artist is a new collection of folk/country tinged tunes that are sure to
fill the Cube Gallery with their immense heart.
Opening the night will be Newfoundland indie-folk sensations, The
Mountains & The Trees. The band, mainly a vehicle for singer-songwriter
Jon Janes and his rotating cast of musical friends, has received steady
airplay on CBC Radio 3 and campus radio off the strength of their first
EP. They are currently on their first cross-Canada tour in support of
their debut LP,”I Made This For You”.
Admission to this show is all ages, with a licensed bar on-hand provided
by neighbouring Petit Bill Bistro.
Tickets($10 student/$15 adult) are now available through
blackboxseries.ca, or the Cube Gallery: in person at 1285 Wellington St.
W.(near Holland),or by calling:( 613)728-1111
Daniel Romano will be the fourth show in the Blackbox Concert Series, but
the first outside of its main home in the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre.
The Cube Gallery is an exquisitely beautiful space with surrounding
artwork that will inspire a warm, hushed vibe – perfect for a folk concert
like Daniel Romano and The Mountains and the Trees.
Find us on Black Box Series for future announcements of new Canadian music performed in intimate and unique spaces, right in the heart of Ottawa.

You always post some excellent music here… I’ve been enjoying your site for just about a couple of months now, but it never fails me.
I live juuuuust a bit too far away to make this show. Man, I need to get to work on that teleportation device.
