This was left in the draft section for 5 years and I think I should make a post about it.
Who doesn’t love Janet Jackson?
UK label Tin Angel Records released this great covers album to celebrate Janet’s music 5 years ago simply called “Dear Janet“.
Most of the covers have a different take like being acoustic or lo-fi style or electro-dance experimentation, making it personal and intimate when listening to the lyrics
Favorite stand outs are:
Deradoorian’s Pleasure Principle, Naytronix and tUnE-yArDs’ What Have You Done For Me Lately and High Places’ That’s The Way Love Goes.
This covers album is only available on Bandcamp.
About Dear Janet (from 5 years ago’s descriptions).
Filled with loads of Tin Angel favourites and even a couple of our their own artists.
The project has been years in the making and is the brainchild of their good friend Jan Lankisch.
After hearing Janet’s music for the first time in 1989 he instantly became a fan.
‘It blew my mind’ he says ‘you could call it a first-love experience.’
The idea came to realisation in 2008 after meeting the band Dirty Projectors.
They spoke about The Jacksons and Jan mentioned how he’d always preferred Janet’s records to Michael’s, and that it would be fun to pay tribute to her.
Dear Janet gets:
