Eight And A Half, The Gallop & Eraserheads @ Zaphod Beeblebrox [May 5, 2012]

Besides the “Super Moon” that happened on May 5, 2012.
There was a great show that took place at Zaphod Beeblebrox.
Playing at the show:

I was excited since I heard the album from Eight And A Half and was curious to see how they were live.
The show started off with Ottawa’s Eraserhead.
The band consist of Omar Rivero and Jamie Kronick (What Ottawa band hasn’t he not drum with? :P)
Their set was indie experimental prog post-rock.
They had a interesting visual display for their set.
Kind of reminded me of the defunct Ottawa band Paramedics.
I really enjoyed their set.

Next was The Gallop.
I hadn’t seen them live for quite some time.
They seem to have grown in the size of members.
This time they have two female members which I think is great and makes them more diverse.
The band played some old tracks and new tracks on the upcoming album.
It was a great set from them.

Then it was Eight And A Half’s to come on stage.
For those not aware, the band consist of members from Broken Social Scene and The Stills.
I had a delayed reaction moment when they were getting ready.
Saw Justin Peroff on the stage and I was like “OMG! It’s Justin who plays drums with Broken Social Scene!”.

Maybe the news of their hiatus kind of saddened me but it was very close to a BSS/Arts & Crafts kind of show.
Anyways the band put on a great set.
Made me want to dance but I didn’t want to look foolish doing it.
Their music was a mix of electro-prog and rock.
They mostly played tracks from their debut album.
Despite being a short set due to the album being their first time as a band.
Overall I really enjoyed their set.
It’s been a long time that Spectrasonic has done a show at the venue.
