Last Saturday at FME (Festival De Musique Émergente).
The night kicked off beautifully at Agora des Arts with Myriam Gendron.
Known for her 2014 album Mayday, she’s been gaining well-deserved attention recently.
Her performance was intimate, creating a reflective atmosphere that resonated deeply with the crowd.
Over at the main stage, the energy shifted to a hip-hop vibe with Montreal’s LaF and Loud Lary Ajust, delivering dynamic sets.
However, the highlight for me was Toronto’s Haviah Mighty.
Her electrifying performance, blending sharp lyricism with high-octane beats, lived up to every expectation.
She dominated the stage, and the crowd fed off her energy.
At Cabaret de la Dernière Chance, Montreal’s PYPY delivered a mesmerizing psych-punk performance.
Previewing tracks from their upcoming album Sacred Times and revisiting their debut Pagan Day, the band unleashed a hot, sweaty, and exhilarating set that had the room thrashing.
Their raw, unfiltered energy was infectious.
One show I couldn’t miss was at Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda.
Kaya Hoax started things off with her unique electro-pop, setting the tone.
But it was Marie Davidson I was most excited about.
Initially, I assumed she was doing a DJ set, but halfway through the second song, she emerged from behind the decks to sing.
Her performance was a perfect blend of intensity and fun, keeping everyone dancing well into the night.
The late-night finale was Toronto’s Slash Need, who closed the night with their terrifying, industrial electro-punk assault.
Their raw, abrasive sound echoed through the venue, ending the night with a dark, gritty edge that left a lasting impression.
