Today, Montreal’s Hua Li 化力 dropped the new single and music video for “Water’ which is taken from the Yellow Crane EP that comes out on November 20, 2020 via Next Door Records.
Perfect blend of groovy R&B and hip-hop with some great storytelling.
About the track:
“Water” takes on the city of Wuhan, describing her powerful history, the equally fiery climate and temperament of her citizens and its three boroughs, Wuchang, Hankao and Hanyang, at the Yangtze River.
Hua Li’s passionate and unrelenting verses give way to lush choruses weaving together ancient Chinese symbolism with the modern-day political plight of Asian Americans.
The single’s video is filmed by Steve Deku.
Yellow Crane EP is an homage to Hua Li’s maternal hometown of Wuhan, China.
